Professional Image/Dress Code

Cosmetology & Nail Care Future Professionals must adhere to the following professional dress code while in attendance: 

1. Future Professionals must wear all BLACK attire.

2. Phase Two Future Professionals ONLY: may wear black or white in any combination.

3. A minimal print in clothing is acceptable if it is a black and white print.

4. Clothing should be professional and clean.

5. Closed heel and closed toe shoes should be black, professional, practical, and comfortable. 

6. Hair should be styled prior to arriving at the school.

7. Any cosmetics should be applied prior to arriving at the school.

8. The following is a list of acceptable dress: 

  • Jeans, any rips or tears must fall below the fingertips, when standing up - BLACK only. 
  • Stylish hats, scarves, and stylish head wraps - BLACK only.
  • Shorts and/or skirts should be no shorter than 2 fingers above the knee from front to back when standing up. 
  • Skirts or Dresses in all black. Black tights or leggings must be worn if the skirt or dress falls above the knee.
  • Outerwear (Jackets, Cardigans, Sweater) - BLACK only.
  • Paul Mitchell & CAO Cosmetics Logo T-Shirt.

9. Solid tights or leggings should be worn with skirts or dresses that fall above the knees for all Future Professionals.

10. Name tag — as provided by the school. All Future Professionals are required to wear a name tag while in attendance. 

All Skin Future Professionals must adhere to the following professional dress code while in attendance:

1. Future Professionals must wear school issued, grey scrubs.

2. Closed heel and closed toe shoes should be black, professional, practical, and comfortable.

3. Fingernails should be natural and at an appropriate length.

4. Hair should be styled prior to arriving at the school.

5. Any cosmetics should be applied prior to arriving at the school.

6. The following is a list of acceptable dress: 

  • Stylish hats, scarves, and stylish head wraps - BLACK only.
  • Long Sleeve Shirts or T-Shirts worn underneath Scrubs - Solid BLACK or WHITE only.
  • Outerwear (Jackets, Cardigans, Sweater) - BLACK only.

7. Name tag — as provided by the school. All Future Professionals are required to wear a name tag while in attendance. 

All Barbering Future Professionals must adhere to the following professional dress code while in attendance:

1. Future Professionals must wear all BLACK attire.

2. Phase Two Future Professionals ONLY: may wear black or white in any combination.

3. Optional, but recommended: Straight Tie or Bow.

4. Optional, but recommended: Button down shirt.

5. Accessories may include: Belt, Arm-Garter, Suspenders, Socks or Shoes - must be in BLACK.

6. Jeans, any rips or tears must fall below the fingertips, when standing up - BLACK only.

7. Barber smocks are optional - BLACK only.

8. Fedoras, flat hats, ascot caps, scarves or stylish head wraps may be worn - BLACK only.

9. Shorts and/or skirts should be no shorter than 2 fingers above the knee from front to back, when standing up.

10. Skirts or Dresses in all black. Solid black tights or leggings must be worn if the skirt or dress falls above the knee.

11. Paul Mitchell Logo T-Shirt.

12. Name tag - as provided by the school. All Future Professionals are required to wear a name tag while in attendance. 

The following is a list of unacceptable dress for all Future Professionals in attendance: 

  • Open toed and open heeled shoes. Gym shoes, Foot thongs, Crocs, Uggs, Birkenstocks or beach sandals.
  • Low cut tops, backless tops, crop tops, tank tops, and spaghetti strap tops.
  • Sweatpants or sheer leggings as pants.
  • Sweatshirts or hoodies, other than those with the Paul Mitchell logo.
  • Shorts or skirts that fall shorter than 2 fingers above your knee, when standing up.
  • Baseball hats, visors, bandanas, caps, or beanies.
  • Spandex or biking shorts.
  • Sunglasses, headphones, headgear, and/or earphones are not permitted in the classroom or the clinic classroom.
  • Any print on shirts or pants other than Paul Mitchell. 

Future Professionals who fail to comply with the Future Professional dress code may be coached and may receive an advisory.
